The base grant is €2,500 per month. A household allowance of up to € 300 per month is available to fellows with a partner who also resides in Florence and who earn less than €2,000 per month. Each dependent child will receive a dependant payment of €200 per month if they live with a fellow resident in Florence.

Max Weber Fellowship Program for PostDocs
A unique postdoctoral program in the history and social sciences is offered by the European University Institute (EUI) called the Max Weber Programme (MWP). Any applicant from anywhere in the world is eligible to apply. The program is exceptionally selective and offers a total of 55–60 Fellowships in the social and political sciences, economics, law, and history, with an acceptance rate of 5% per year. Preference is offered to candidates who have recently received their doctorates and have never held a postdoctoral position.

The Max Weber Fellowship currently provides a payment of 2,070 EUR per month together with, if required, a family allowance. Fellows who choose to continue for a second year will have the option of applying for a Part-time Assistant Professor contract (level ASSPR6/3) for a 12-month period, which would involve some teaching duties and mentoring Ph.D. researchers. The net pay, in addition to the grant each month, would be close to 850 EUR. The MWP policy governs parental leave.
The exceptional research resources offered by the European University Institute are available to Max Weber Fellows, including an extraordinary library, shared office space, and a personal research budget of between 1000 and 2000 EUR for second or third-year Economics Fellows who are actively seeking employment.

Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna Research Fellowships
The University of Bologna, also known as the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna or just the University of Bologna, is one of the oldest institutions in the world and is situated in Bologna, Italy. The institution provides both domestic and foreign researchers with a selection of fellowships, scholarships, and funding options.
The length of a fellowship can range from one to three years, and it can be extended for a total of 36 months. Fellowships are extendable. Anyone with the following qualifications and a qualified professional scientific program may apply for a research fellowship:
- a Masters’s degree from the second cycle, a degree from the earlier system of degrees, or an equivalent qualification for self-funded research fellowships.
- a research doctorate or equivalent foreign degree (or, for the fields concerned, a medical specialization school degree with an appropriate scientific production) is required for research fellowships that are jointly funded by a budget.

Fernand Braudel Senior Fellowships for Postdocs
With the help of Fernand Braudel Senior Fellowships, established academics with a strong international reputation can conduct their research at the EUI. Up to ten-month fellowships are available from one of the EUI’s four departments, during which time fellows are encouraged to attend departmental activities including seminars, workshops, colloquia, etc.
