The McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill are the nation’s first all-inclusive, leadership-focused master and professional degree scholarships. John and Marcy McCall MacBain announced the scholarships in February 2019 thanks to a historic $200 million gift. It was the largest contribution in Canadian history at the time. They believed it was essential for Canada to have a comprehensive master’s-level scholarship that builds on academic excellence but goes beyond it based on their work with some of the top scholarships in the world over the years, including the Rhodes Scholarships in Oxford, the Mandela Rhodes Scholarships in Cape Town, and the Kupe Scholarships in New Zealand.
