Faculty for the Future Fellowships for Phd Students and Postdocs

Faculty for the Future Fellowships are awarded to women from developing and emerging nations who are pursuing advanced graduate study at renowned universities in their disciplines abroad. These women must be prepared for PhD or post-doctoral studies in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields. Since the SLB Foundation established Faculty for the Future in 2004, the community today consists of 863 women from 90 different nations.

The Schlumberger Foundation is dedicated to achieving gender parity in science and understands the need of providing women and girls with full access to and participation in a STEM curriculum. In the local communities and areas where chosen applicants for this program are granted, scientific and technical advancements will be increased by promoting STEM research for women scientists in emerging countries.

Faculty for the Future Fellowships Benefits

Grants from Faculty for the Future Fellowships are available to PhD students for up to 50,000 USD per year, and to postdoctoral researchers for up to 40,000 USD per year. According to performance, self-evaluation, and supervisor recommendations, grants may be extended until the end of the course of study. Depending on the real costs of living and attending school in the destination of choice, a grant may be provided in a certain amount.

Eligibility

You are eligible to apply for Faculty for the Future Fellowships if you

  • are a female;
  • are a citizen of a developing country or emerging economy;
  • are preparing for a PhD degree or post-doctoral research in a STEM discipline;
  • are accepted, enrolled, or have applied to a host university or research institute abroad. The final degree must be granted by the host university abroad or jointly (i.e., not just from the university in your country of residence) if you are applying for a sandwich course;
  • must have a strong academic record, exhibit leadership qualities, engage in volunteer work in the community, and have a history of promoting STEM careers for women and girls;
  • can demonstrate leadership skills, active community outreach, and have a track record in
  • encouraging girls and women into STEM;
  • in addition, candidates should demonstrate their intention to strengthen the STEM teaching and research faculties of their home institutions and to take a leadership role in science-based entrepreneurship when they return to their home countries after finishing their studies in order to contribute to the economic, social, and technological advancement of their home regions.

Non Eligibility

You are not eligible to apply for Faculty for the Future fellowships

  • if you have dual citizenship, one of which is that of a developed nation, you are ineligible to apply;
  • if you receive a Faculty for the Future grant and later acquire citizenship in a developed nation, the grant will be terminated as of the date of the addition of the new citizenship;
  • the program Faculty for the Future does not support master-level studies;
  • applications for candidates who have not yet submitted an application to a university are no longer accepted.

Deadline

From September 4 through November 10, 2023, the Schlumberger Foundation will accept fresh and renewal applications for the 2024–2025 Faculty for the Future Fellowships.
