Application Process

Both the Knight-Hennessy Scholars application and the application for your Stanford graduate degree program must be submitted simultaneously. This is true for applicants looking to enroll in their first graduate program at Stanford as well as current Stanford graduate students who are adding a second graduate degree. The Stanford application deadline varies by program, unlike the KHS application, which has a standard date for everyone. To confirm the deadline for KHS applicants, contact the program you’re interested in.

You only need to submit one application to be considered for Knight-Hennessy Scholars if you have already been admitted and deferred admission to start a full-time graduate program at Stanford in 2025, or if you are a Stanford PhD student who will start your PhD in 2024 and start your second year in 2025.

Fill out and submit the online admission application, including your personal and academic details, etc. In order to better understand you, we enquire about your contact information, basic biographical and demographic information, and a description of your activities, experiences, and interests, among other things.

While you might be tempted to skip over or simplify sections that duplicate material on your resume, we strongly advise you to provide complete answers to all questions requesting background information. We like learning more about your extracurricular pursuits, professional experiences, and personal interests.

Knight-Hennessy Scholars are not required to pay an application fee, but you must do so when you submit your graduate program application.
