Twenty master’s scholarships will be made available by the University of Edinburgh for its eligible part-time distance learning master’s programs. Each scholarship will cover full tuition fees and will be tenable for the normal duration of the program of study.

Eligible Countries

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Assistance Committee’s categories of “Least Developed Countries,” “Other Low-income Countries,” and “Lower Middle-Income Countries” serve as the basis for determining which nations are eligible for this scholarship.

Eligibility

For students starting any of the University’s online part-time master’s programs in the academic year 2024–2025, scholarships will be available.

  • Candidates must already have received an offer of admission to the University of Edinburgh and must have accepted or be planning to accept that offer wholeheartedly.
  • The following will be requested of applicants in their personal statements:
    • (a) the particular program components that drew you to the University of Edinburgh;
    • (b) a confirmation of how successfully completing this program will benefit your career and personal development; and
    • (c) a description of how this will enable you to give back to your community/region/country.

On the basis of academic achievement and the quality of a personal statement, the scholarship will be given. Those who have never had the chance to study at the master’s level before will be given preference.

Clinical Management of Pain Online Scholarship

For the academic year 2024-2025, the Department of Anaesthesia, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine will award four scholarships to participants in the Clinical Management of Pain (Online Distance Learning) program.

The scholarship provides a one-off payment of up to £1,000 towards tuition fees, this amount may not cover the full cost of the program. Therefore, students may still need to secure additional funding sources to cover the remaining tuition fees and any other associated costs, such as textbooks or technology fees.

Eligibility

  • New applicants who have applied for admission to a postgraduate taught Master or Master by Research degree program of study at the University beginning in September 2024 will be given the scholarships.
  • Candidates must possess—or anticipate obtaining—the equivalent of a first-class or 2:1 honors undergraduate degree from the United Kingdom.
  • This award is open to both taught master’s programs and master’s by research programs. Applications from applicants in the UK and abroad who want to enroll in full-time, part-time, or online distance learning programs will be taken into consideration.

The George Lindsay Cooper Scholarship, the Madeleine Bentley Scholarship, and the Bilan-Cooper Scholarship are three scholarships available to cover the full tuition costs for a chosen taught Master’s program offered by or affiliated with the Edinburgh Futures Institute for entry in 2024–2025.

Benefits

Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors Online Scholarship

For the academic year 2024–2025, Edinburgh Surgery Online will provide a number of scholarships for master’s programs taught entirely online. Each scholarship will pay the full cost of tuition plus a portion for internet access. A resident of Africa, South Asia, the Caribbean, the Pacific Islands, or Central or South America is required.

All applicants are also eligible for a number of bursaries, each worth £1500 annually and contingent upon satisfactory progress.

Eligibility

Applicants who are accepted for admission to the MSc in Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors will receive scholarships. The applicants will be required to write a succinct (100-word) statement outlining how the program advances their professional goals.
