The Friedrich Ebert Foundation scholarship program is open to applicants from all disciplines and academic backgrounds. Successful candidates receive financial support for their studies or research, as well as access to a range of training and networking opportunities. The scholarship covers tuition fees, living expenses, health insurance, and travel costs.

Benefits of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Scholarship
The Friedrich International Student Scholarships for doing bachelors scholarships in Germany, as well as postgraduate scholarships in Germany, will cover the following expenses:
- Stipend of EUR 750 per month in a Bachelor’s, Diploma, Magister, or state examination program
- A monthly stipend of EUR 850 is provided for Master’s students.
- Health insurance costs are covered, and scholars with children receive a family allowance of EUR 276.
- The scholarship is not required to be repaid.

Criteria Eligibility
for Undergraduate and Master’s Degrees:
- Confirmation of study location or enrollment certificate at a state or state-recognized German university or technical college for the course for which they wish to be funded
- Foreign applicants must also demonstrate adequate German language proficiency.
- First-year students (Germans and educated foreign students) must apply before or at the start of the first semester.
For the PhD:
- Unconditional acceptance into the doctoral scholarship
- Foreign applicants must also demonstrate adequate German language proficiency.

Application Deadline
While applications can be submitted at any time, there are detailed deadlines that must be followed. The last date for International students to apply for the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Scholarship is 30 November for the Winter semester and 31 May for the Summer semester. For German students, the deadline is 31 October for the winter semester and 30 April for the Summer semester. PhD candidates can apply at any time.
How to Apply for the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Scholarship?
The FES scholarship application is an online process. You will need to register on the FES website. Simply fill out the online application. You will be asked a few questions about your professional and family background – further documents are not yet required.
If you are eligible for a scholarship, you will be requested further documents by e-mail: two expert reports from Hochschullehrer_innen as well as information about your previous education and your socio-political commitment. You have three weeks to upload the documents after our request. For the expert opinions, if necessary after consultation with us six weeks.
