University of Debrecen International Scholarship in Hungary

The goal of the University of Debrecen International Scholarship is to assist the institution’s mission of offering top-notch instruction, encouraging internationalization, and cultivating an inclusive and diverse learning community.

In order to provide foreign students who are not currently enrolled in Hungary with the opportunity to continue their higher education studies in Hungary, including at the University of Debrecen, the Hungarian government has launched a pilot program.

University of Debrecen

The University of Debrecen is located in Debrecen, Hungary. It is the oldest university in Hungary and has been in continuous operation since its foundation in 1538. The institution offers a well-established English language program for overseas students, with a focus on the medical and engineering fields, which were the first to implement English language instruction in 1886. More than 6,000 international students attend the university to study.

Benefits of the University of Debrecen International Scholarship

The University of Debrecen International Scholarship provides the following benefits:

  • Tuition fee discount
    • Depending on the study program, different tuition fees may apply.
      • The tuition reduction for the Medicine and Dentistry programs is limited to 30% of the total annual tuition charge.
      • The tuition fee reduction for all other programs is limited to 90% of the total yearly tuition.
    • The applicant’s academic background and success on the entrance exam determine how much of a discount they receive.
  • Medical insurance

As long as the recipient of the scholarship meets the requirements outlined in the scholarship’s operational regulations, the benefits granted by the award are valid for the duration of the recipient’s academic career.

Criteria

You have to fulfill the following criteria in order to apply for University of Debrecen International Scholarship:

  • Applicants must be non-Hungarian citizens.
  • Undergraduate program: The students must be high school graduates or be in their final year
  • of high school studies upon application.
  • Graduate program: Students must be BSc/BA degree holders or be in their final year of BSc/BA studies upon application.
  • The scholarship will only be awarded to those who have accurately filled out their application, sent in all necessary paperwork, and paid the $150 application fee into the university’s bank account.
  • Applicants must fulfill the entrance exam requirements specified by the selected degree program during the application process.
  • Applicants must be 18 years old by August 31 of the year that the application is submitted (exceptions may be requested in the event that an applicant performs exceptionally well on the entrance exam).
  • individuals who have previously been enrolled students at the University of Debrecen are not eligible for the scholarship.
  • Applications from freshmen are the only ones taken into consideration. Transfer requests intended for a higher year level are not accepted.

Documents/Material Required to Apply

The following list of documents must be included with your University of Debrecen International Scholarship application. At the time of the University of Debrecen International Scholarship application, none of these documents are needed in hard copy at the University of Debrecen. Certain documents, though, may be presented at a later date if the applicant was unable to get them at the time of application.

  • The University of Debrecen International Scholarship online application form in English must be completed by the applicant and saved with all relevant information. You can fill out an online application at https://stuart.edu.unideb.hu/#/apply.
  • Comprehensive curriculum vitae
  • A scanned copy of the original document proving language competency at least at B2 (CERF) or through an admission interview. If the student has completed coursework in English at an earlier level, documentation proving that English was the language of instruction can be uploaded.
  • Academic credentials and translations into Hungarian or English, if they weren’t initially in either language, such as:
    • Bachelor-level: a scanned copy of the original certificate of secondary school graduation, or an equivalent, together with a translation of it.
    • Master level: a scanned copy of the original certificate of bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, together with a translation of it.
  • Unique prerequisites for Master’s program applications: Detailed transcript of undergraduate courses and a bachelor’s degree.
  • Transcript of records from every semester or school year the student has finished at the highest level of education in the past, together with its translation.
  • Copy of identity document: You should submit a scanned copy of your national ID card or the data page of your passport.
  • Certificate of Medical Fitness. Visit https://edu.unideb.hu/p/medicalcheck-up to access the template.

Deadline

The University of Debrecen International Scholarship application deadline for the scholarship is not specified. Applications may be sent in at any time as long as program seat availability and the scholarship funding permit. All University of Debrecen international degree programs, however, have official application deadlines of June 15, 2024.

The University of Debrecen International Scholarship application involves various steps:

Check Your Eligibility: Make sure you meet all the requirements by carefully reading the eligibility requirements for the scholarship or scholarships you are interested in.
